Remarks about the evaluations

  • Course evaluations are compulsary and initiated by the dean.
  • Students have to evaluate each course on a regular basis using a formalised questionnaire with rating scales from
    • "1" (= very good teaching result) to
    • "5" (= very bad teaching result).

    The evaluations are carried out anonymously.

  • All questionnaires are analysed by a special department (ZES) at the university using an automated system called "EvaSys".
  • The number of students attending my courses in winter semester: approx. 130 - 140 and in summer semester: approx. 100 - 110.

Course: "Work preparation" | Bachelor | 4th semester

  • Course contents:
    • Basics about tendering a project and planning a project.
    • Students learn the planning and importance of construction methodoligy, equipment concepts, requirements about workforce and site staff, site installation, quantity take-off, logistics and time scheduling as well as impacts on cost estimation.
    • Students learn to use Excel and develop helpful Spreadsheets.

  • He loves his job and that is obvious for everybody.
  • Clear and direct communication.
  • He knows how to motivate.
  • He knows how to inspire interest for civil engineering, in his courses he always tries to give it his all.

Especially positive features about the courses taught by Mr. Görres:

  • The course is clearly structured. I feel very well prepared for the job.
  • The contents of the courses are very good and interesting. The course is practice-orientated for future professional life.
  • The homework was a lot of fun and is very helpful for future jobs.
  • Mr. Görres answers any questions and tries to give as much information as possible.

What Mr. Görres could do better?

  • He should clone himself. That would benefit everybody.
  • The homework should be easier → it is too much. You can get 2.5 credit points for a one-week language course too
  • More credit points for the course, there is too much to learn for the exam
  • More exercises, for example estimating crane capacities
  • The handouts could be published earlier
  • Too much homework
  • It is too much for only 2.5 credit points
  • Keep it up, Mr. Görres!!
  • Too much to learn for the exam.
  • Too much homework at the beginning that was too difficult but was manageable after a while and some training.
  • The homework was extensive and demanding in the beginning. But after a training period good to solve.
  • The homework is demanding and takes a lot of time, but it is worth it.
  • More credit points for the homework or less homework
  • More excursions / BIM laboratory / more training of skills like Excel and others
